This is the only such place on the map of Poland, and most likely also unique on a global scale, where contemporary architecture merges with historical, typically alpine style.
The Clariant office occupies two floors – totalling over 4,300 square meters. It is spacious, and above all, functional. Original cast iron stairs with preserved embossments lead to the company’s headquarters, still recalling the times of the beginning of the Vodka Distillery. They emphasize the atmosphere of this place and give it class. Also, in the office interiors, the architects from The Design Group did not shy away from references to the factory aesthetic. The brick, visible on many walls, is an original fragment of this over a century-old building. Highlighting it was a deliberate design move.
Furthermore – in many places throughout the office, mirrors are cleverly hidden (from a height of 2.7 m up to the ceiling, around 4 m), creating an effect of almost endless brick and incredible depth. The ceiling, reminiscent of a barrel vault, is filled with spotlights and specially adapted acoustic systems in the form of acoustic islands and baffles.
We present a few shots of this extraordinary realization in the industrial building of Monopolis for the Shared Services Center of Clariant, a Swiss chemical corporation.
