Kemira, a global leader in sustainable chemistry for water-intensive industries, recently moved into its new office in Gdańsk.
The key challenge was adapting an existing space to a new user – their work culture, identity, and the way their team operates.Instead of starting from scratch, we worked with an office that was already fully shaped – both functionally and visually. Our task was not to “redesign” it, but to consciously transform it so that it would genuinely respond to Kemira’s needs.

From the very beginning, we focused on decisions that have the greatest impact on the everyday user experience. We worked selectively – preserving elements that held value and quality, while rethinking those that required a new approach. Some built-ins, furniture, and material solutions were integrated into the new structure, while others were transformed rather than replaced.

An important stage of the process was translating Kemira’s global brand guidelines into a tangible spatial experience – ensuring not only visual consistency, but also material quality and overall comfort. This is why the design introduces more natural materials, particularly wood, which complements and balances the color palette derived from Kemira’s visual identity.

In response to the character of the organization and the specifics of the existing space, we developed the original Nordic Flow concept – not as a style, but as a way of organizing these design decisions. We based it on fluidity, material coherence, and consistency in detail. The motif of water, strongly connected to Kemira’s business, appears subtly throughout the office – shaping the character of the space without being literal.

At the same time, the office was designed as a system of flexible spaces. The townhall area, meeting rooms connected by movable walls, and a variety of work settings and shared spaces were all planned to respond to the evolving needs of the team.

This is a project where the most important decisions were not about adding new elements, but about consciously using what was already there – and giving it new meaning.
