Offices That Go Green: Top 10 Realisations of Recent Months
More and more companies are prioritising greenery in their office space arrangements. Contributing to this is the popularity of the biophilic design trend, as well as the fact that the presence of natural plants, and even the colour green itself, increases the comfort of users of interiors. From potted plants, through green walls, to wallpapers and graphics with plant motifs – greenery is conquering office spaces. We present the most interesting office realisations of recent months whose designers have prioritised greenery.
AkzoNobel headquarters in Warsaw (design: BIT Creative Barnaba Grzelecki)
The new AkzoNobel office of 3,500 sqm is located in the Warsaw office building complex The Park. The architects created a functional and spacious space, creative and highly inspiring. Throughout the office arrangement, there is plenty of room for natural greenery, which is an excellent complement to this space and improves working comfort. The office teems with life, and the conscious use of products and colours gives the interior a unique atmosphere.
Nordea IT Centre in Warsaw (design: Workplace)
Referring to the (not-so-)distant future, the architects created a coherent vision of an office inspired by futuristic motifs. The cosmic décor brings to mind scenes from Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. Geometric forms and monochromatic colours are emphasised by programmed lighting scenarios, which together with the vegetation create a distinctive work ecosystem. This is one of the most technologically, functionally and design-wise advanced workspaces in Europe. The structure connecting 3 floors, crowned with giant infinity mirrors, resembles a spacetime tunnel. Space Garden – a relaxation zone filled with greenery – allows employees to recharge on soft furniture and hanging chairs.
LPP headquarters in Kraków (design: Studio 1:1)
In the work of creative teams for brands such as House and Mohito, the right spatial arrangement is essential. Hence the light colour palette that forms the backdrop for the designed collections. Thanks to workshop zones where design workstations are combined with showroom arrangements, each team can test its ideas in conditions close to those in which customers shop. The whole is complemented by a nearly 300-sqm dining room, making maximum use of the potential of natural light and live vegetation.
Vastint office at Business Garden, Warsaw (design: BIT Creative Barnaba Grzelecki)
The space was divided into flexible work zones and semi-private and publicly accessible conference rooms. The project did not lack natural greenery, which presents itself as particularly spectacular in the form of green walls. The interior is in a modern, industrial style, yet very cosy, with a light touch of Scandinavian poetry. Cool concrete is broken by a large amount of wood and live greenery.
PubNub office in Katowice (design: Furniko)
The American technology company PubNub has started operations in its first office in Poland, in the Katowice office building .KTW I. The interior arrangement featured green accents in the form of a green wall, a large number of potted plants at workstations and wallpapers with plant motifs.
Techland office in Wrocław (design: Magdalena Kozak, Daniel Błaszczyk)
The new Techland office presented a challenge due to its scale and modern approach to workspace. The work zones are primarily an open space with clearly delineated zones of soft furniture, equipped with televisions and dry-erase boards for discussing game segments. The nap room resembles a green, peaceful forest.
HAMA Greater Poland headquarters, Robakowo near Poznań (design: ELM ARCHITEKCI)
The project assumed the opening up of small office rooms and corridors to create an open space, better communication between teams and the optical enlargement of the office section. One of the most interesting solutions was the introduction of glass elements in graphite frames. The newly created café is equipped with a green wall covered in climbing plants.
CHEP Polska office in Warsaw (design: The Design Group)
The new CHEP Polska headquarters is located in the Warsaw office building at Domaniewska 48. One of the company’s main philosophy principles is minimising the impact of its activities on the natural environment. An expression of care for the environment is the friendly atmosphere of the office – there is plenty of live greenery, as well as materials inspired by nature. Right at the entrance in the reception, guests are greeted by a massive plant wall. “The client wanted the office to differ from the very popular Scandinavian style. We therefore proposed modernist-industrial solutions with a large amount of greenery – says architect Konrad Krusiewicz, founder of The Design Group.” The office takes the form of an open space, although 34 different zones have been organised here. Partitions in the form of semi-transparent walls made of openwork steel frames with glass inserts are both a carrier for vegetation and muffle sounds between zones.
Vodeno office at Elektrownia Powiśle, Warsaw (design: Trzop Architekci)
Upon entering the Vodeno office, guests are greeted by a reception with a grey sofa and meeting rooms, a reception counter with terrazzo, and right behind it a green wall blooms. The heart of the space is a cafeteria with a kitchen island, café-style tables and chairs with copper details – an ideal zone for celebrating shared meals. Work areas combine neutral colours with pastel hues, vegetation and soft furniture.
New MDDP Outsourcing headquarters, Warsaw (design: Concept Space)
MDDP Outsourcing – a Polish company providing professional advisory services – has been operating since the end of 2019 in new offices in the Spark complex in Warsaw’s Wola district.
