A Modern Take on Silesian Design in the New PwC Service Delivery Center Office
This office tells the story of the city in which it is located. Through its architecture it emphasises a belonging not only to Katowice, but to the entire Silesia region. Meet the new project by The Design Group studio, in which nine floors of an office building combine modernity with an industrial character, regional traditions with its business character. We are talking about the new headquarters of one of the largest companies in the BPO/SSC sector – PwC Service Delivery Center.
PwC Service Delivery Center (PwC SDC) is one of the largest companies in the modern business services sector on the local and Polish market. The Katowice office employs nearly 1,600 people. The company needed not only an appropriate space, but also a place ensuring work ergonomics and employee comfort. It opted for the newly built .KTW II office building located in the Katowice Culture Zone. The building is adjacent to the headquarters of the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra (NOSPR), the International Congress Centre and the ‘Spodek’ entertainment and sports arena.
The investor decided to lease as many as nine floors of the building – 1/4 of the available office space of .KTW II. In preparing the design of the PwC SDC headquarters, the architects from the Warsaw studio The Design Group had nearly 13,000 sqm to arrange. They developed a full executive plan from concept to supervision.
– Due to the extraordinary location of the office, culture, art and regional traditions became one of the main guidelines for the design of the PwC SDC headquarters. At the same time, each space was designed individually and based on discussions with the Client and its employees. As a result, we created an office that combines the most important PwC values, Silesian identity and the business character of the region – says architect Konrad Krusiewicz, CEO of The Design Group.

PwC Service Delivery Center has been associating its history with Katowice for 14 years. The new office project was to emphasise PwC SDC’s connection with Silesia. The architects from The Design Group drew on references to the urban planning concepts characteristic of Katowice from the Giszowiec and Nikiszowiec districts. With the history and architecture of these mining workers’ settlements built over a hundred years ago in mind, they decided to make brick one of the more important elements of the interior arrangement.
