Brick in the Office: Inspiring Workspace Designs
Brick as a finishing material has a long history. In the office it can be an excellent way to add character or a more homely atmosphere to the interior. Here are some selected realizations from offices in Poland where architects chose brick.
PwC SDC Office in Katowice
The PwC SDC office in Katowice is located on nine floors of the .KTW II office building in Katowice. The interiors combine modernity with industrialism, the traditions of the region with its business character.
The architects from The Design Group drew on references to the urban layouts characteristic of Katowice’s Giszowiec and Nikiszowiec districts. Keeping in mind the history and architecture of these settlements built over a hundred years ago for mine workers, they decided to make brick one of the more important elements of the interior arrangement.
In the reception area there is a reception desk finished with brick facings. On the other side stands an openwork wall made of solid brick. The inspiration for its design was the façade of the Main Library in Katowice. Behind it are concealed a document storage area and a kitchenette for reception staff.
